Oral and Dental Guidelines came about in 2005 when John Dowden suggested collaboration between TGL and the Australian Dental Association (ADA) to update the ADA’s 1996 guidelines, first published in 1972.
He chaired the first expert group of nine people. The guidelines included a section for non-dentists and the ADA ensured every dentist in Australia had a copy.
The second edition was published in 2012, and a third is scheduled for release in 2019. In 2014, Oral and Dental Guidelines was translated into Farsi and published by the University of Tehran.
By 2017, Oral and Dental Guidelines was on TGL’s list of top three bestseller printed books.
