A subset of topics, published electronically as Emergency Medicine Guidelines, was selected to be published in print in 2008 as the first edition of Toxicology and Wilderness Guidelines.
Twelve people formed the first expert group, chaired by board director John Marley. Cutting across a broad range of specialties, four members also served on the expert group for the second edition in 2012. These were general practitioner Dr Jenny Conway, nurse Robin Tchernomoroff, rural health clinician Associate Professor Steven Doherty and clinical toxicologist from the Calvary Mater Hospital in Newcastle, Professor Geoffrey Isbister.
For the third edition, to be published in 2019, the title will change its name to Toxicology and Toxinology Guidelines.
